Hello!

Currently Juan is at YouTube, designing for the mission to give everyone a voice and show them the world. Prior to joining YouTube, Juan was a Design Lead at Disney+ helping start, launch globally, and iterate to 50 million+ subscribers. He's also led design for ESPN+, ESPN Apps, and CBS Sports, as well as an Emmy-Award winning editorial designer. He enjoys the intersection of design, storytelling, and technology.

Disney+

Design Lead for Mobile Platforms, Content Discovery, & Design System, having been involved since inception, the US launch on Nov. 12, 2019, and beyond. Also worked on Prototypes, Kid's Profile UX, Accessibility, Art Direction, Visual Design, and anywhere else I can help out. Manages direct reports and helps grow the Design team.

Disney+ iPad App

Create an iPad Prototype to use for presentations, engineering teams, and Disney’s Investor Day on April 2019.

Collaborated with the iOS engineering team for responsive iOS architecture and support MultiTasking.

MultiSport to ESPN+

Create a live sports direct-to-consumer product codenamed MultiSport. After Disney purchased a majority share of MLB/BAMTECH, we were tasked with integrating MultiSport purchasing and viewing experience into ESPN App.

MLS LIVE

Solo UX & Visual Designer for end-to-end experience. Create a subscription service to watch Major League Soccer on mobile, web, and Roku. Presented to MLS, internal stakeholders, and collaborated with product & engineers to launch in time for season.

CBS Sports

As the Design Lead, we redesigned the entire CBS Sports Product Experience on apps, desktop, mobile web, and OTT devices. Soup to nuts - including Home Page, Sports Pages, Articles, GameTrackers, Scoreboards, Stats, Personalization, Registration, OnBoarding, Navigation, and more. We listened to user feedback, user interviews, and A/B testing. We migrated the editorial team from an archaic CMS to a modern CMS for efficiency & cross-platform publishing. And we also worked on March Madness, The Masters, and Super Bowl 50, which became the most watched live-stream Super Bowl ever (2017 Update: 2nd most watched live-stream Super Bowl ever).

ESPN App

As an Associate Art Director at ESPN, Juan was the Product Design Lead on ESPN apps, the most popular sports app on iOS & Android. The ESPN App was formerly known as the SportsCenter App, which was also formerly known as the ScoreCenter App - yes, it's confusing. The ESPN apps are consistently ranked at the top of the iOS & Android Sports Categories and has been featured multiple times, including Apple's WWDC.
